Frequently Asked Questions

How Does The Interlock Work?

In New Mexico, an interlock device stops a vehicle from starting until a breath sample is presented in to the device below a pre-set alcohol limit. In New Mexico, that limit is .025%. All devices in New Mexico also require 'random rolling retests' which prompt a driver to present another breath test at random intervals.

How Long Does it Take To Install?

For Key-Start vehicles the average installation time is 1 hour 15 minutes, for a push-button/hybrid/electric vehicle the average is 2 hours 30 minutes and for a motorcycle the average is 4 hours.

What If I Need Help After-Hours?

The Draeger XT Interlock is incredibly reliable, but if something were to happen after hours please call 505-449-1700 and follow the prompts to connect to our after hours team. We do provide mobile service in and around Albuquerque and do not force our customers to tow their vehicles.

What If My Vehicle Needs Repair or Maintenance?

If you are doing the work yourself it's very important that you save all receipts for any new parts purchased and provide them to our office. If you are having your vehicle serviced at a mechanic's shop direct them to contact us at 505-449-1700 for bypass codes (only available to professional mechanics).

I Had a Violation, What Do I Do?

If your Breath Alcohol Content (BRAC) is above a .025% the interlock will display 'TEST FAILED' and enter a temporary lockout. A timer will display on the LCD screen indicating how long you will be locked out. After the timer has expired you will be able to blow again. If you are on probation, it is important to notify your probation officer ASAP and follow any procedures provided to you at intake. You may also see a message on the interlock indicating '5 days until lockout' - if that is the case you must come to our shop within 5 days to have the device reset.

My Interlock Won't Turn On.

In the vast majority of cases (almost all) the cause for the interlock not turning on is due to a low or dead battery. Try a jump start using a jump-box or traditional jumper method and if that doesn't work give us a call at 505-449-1700.

My Interlock Says Device Lockout.

If you are in Device Lockout you'll need an unlock code from our office to be able to start your car. The interlock will only enter lockout after it's warning period has expired (12 days for a normal service, 5 days for a violation reset). Contact us at 505-449-1700 for an unlock code.

I Can't Make it To My Service Appointment.

That's Okay! Just call 505-449-1700 or use the online chat to reschedule (your machine has a 5-day grace period after your appointment) so you won't lockout for missing your appointment by one day, but please do contact us to reschedule.
